Watching...Big Little Lies- As usual, I am a little behind, but I just watched the first episode of Big Little Lies and I am already obsessed! No spoilers please as it will probably be a while before I finish it all!

Listening to...Stay by Zedd/ Alessia Cara- This song has been on repeat for the past couple of weeks during my commute. It is the perfect singing/ dancing in the car song and has also made a great addition to my running playlist.

Reading...I'll Drink to That by Betty Halbreich- I just started this book and already adore Betty. She is a personal shopper at Bergdorf's and I can't wait to read all about her life. I'll keep you updated on how it is! Until next time, XO

Lots of Pink and More Life Updates

2017, personal, fashion, OOTD, ebay, consignment

Hello all! I hope you have had a fabulous weekend! Mine has been eventful and I am definitely enjoying the excuse to stay in because of the cold, rainy weather here. As you now know, I am moving to London in September and I couldn't be more excited. It is going to be an incredible opportunity and I am excited to be living in London again.

However, moving to another country does put a bit of a damper in my plans to start an online consignment store. If you don't remember, check out my announcement here. Now I have the problem of having a lot of inventory, a website that I was hoping to launch this summer, and the more pressing issue of needing to delay this project for the near future.
2017, personal, fashion, OOTD, ebay, consignment

Instead of completely delaying the project, I have decided to sell a majority of the spring, summer, and fall clothes as well as jewelry and purses I have on eBay

Nothing has been posted yet, but I am hoping to post the first batch of clothes in the next week and then post new items fairly regularly. Here is a link to my eBay store and make sure to check back periodically in case you see anything you like!

Also, feel free to contact me if there are any specific items that you have seen on the blog that you are interested in! You never know, they might be something I have already set aside to sell. Until next time, XO

All About Neutrals

Thursday, April 20, 2017

2017, OOTD, neutrals, black, sparkly, fashion, spring,

Hello all! I think by now we can all admit that I have an obsession with everything pink. However, it hasn't always been like that. In fact, I refused to even wear pink until I got to college! I guess now, I'm making up for lost time! HA!
2017, OOTD, neutrals, black, sparkly, fashion, spring,

But, in all seriousness, pink and really colors in general are a newer addition to my wardrobe. My first inclination, especially if I'm not paying addition is to wear all neutrals. For me, that doesn't necessarily mean all black, but more that there is not a statement pop of color.
2017, OOTD, neutrals, black, sparkly, fashion, spring,

Now, don't get me wrong, I love that pink and other colors are now a part of my wardrobe. But, at the same time, there is something to be said about an all neutral outfit. The lack of color always makes me feel a little classier in any outfit.
2017, OOTD, neutrals, black, sparkly, fashion, spring,

Wearing all neutrals is also an excellent opportunity to break some of those tried and true fashion rules that I don't believe in like not mixing metals, not wearing black and navy together, or not mixing black and brown. When you have an all neutral outfit, these combinations normally pop and look amazing together.

So give the color a break every once in a while and give neutral a try! Until next time, XO

What I'm Up To

Monday, April 17, 2017

Watching...Spotlight- I know I'm a little behind, but I haven't had the chance to sit down and really devote my energy to a movie in so long! Well, I finally found the time and I watched Spotlight. Before you ask, yes, of course it's on Netflix and you should go watch it immediately. It was absolutely incredible and I didn't reach for the distraction of my phone the entire. Quite a feat I must say!

Listening to...new Harry Styles- His first solo single since One Direction, Sign of the Times is now available and trust me, it is different from everything else playing on the radio right now. He also premiered a new song on Saturday Night Live. What do y'all think about his new sound?

Reading...Wait for Me! by Deborah Mitford- I just recently got on this Mitford sisters kick and bought a bunch of books about them. This is the first one I've had time to pick-up and it is so interesting! Part auto-biography and part biography of the rest of the sisters, hearing about the family and their lives from the youngest sister's perspective is fascinating.

Until next time and don't forget to leave recommendations in the comments below! XO

Some exciting news about my next chapter

Friday, April 14, 2017

2017, OOTD, personal, spring, over the knee boots,

Happy Friday! I am so excited that it's Friday and even more excited about this blog post because I have some very big news to share with you. As I have been alluding to for the past couple of weeks, I have something I want to tell y'all and I've been waiting for the perfect time.
2017, OOTD, personal, spring, over the knee boots,

Happily, that time is now, so I'm just going to dive right in! As you know, I graduated from college with a degree in art history in May of 2016. Since then, I've worked with an art gallery, a non-profit, and an auction house, where I currently work full time.
2017, OOTD, personal, spring, over the knee boots,

However, starting in September, I will be moving to London for a year to get my masters in art history from Christie's Education. I am so excited about this next chapter of my life and even more excited about living in London again!
2017, OOTD, personal, spring, over the knee boots,

If you have any suggestions for things to do in London or know any one I can get coffee with, I'd love to hear about it. There will also be way more posts leading up to my move with lots of details so not to worry! I am so excited and so glad to share this with y'all! Until next time, XO

Mixing Patterns for Spring

Thursday, April 13, 2017

2017, OOTD, spring, stripes, ruffles, cheetah, pink, patterns,

Hello all! It is finally starting to feel like spring here and I couldn't be more excited. As much as  I love winter and my winter wardrobe, I am definitely ready for a change and I have been getting very excited about my summer wardrobe as I've been unpacking it.
2017, OOTD, spring, stripes, ruffles, cheetah, pink, patterns,

Last summer, a big trend for me was ruffles. By the end of the summer though, I was sick of all things ruffly and thought I had put that fashion trend to bed. However, after going through my summer clothes, I am all excited about ruffles again. They are such a fun and girly detail, which I absolutely love, especially for summer.
2017, OOTD, spring, stripes, ruffles, cheetah, pink, patterns,

The other thing I am excited about for summer is patterns. I don't avoid patterns in the winter obviously, but my focus is generally mixing textures. In the summer, it is hard to mix textures without layering and completely overheating. So, patterns it is!
2017, OOTD, spring, stripes, ruffles, cheetah, pink, patterns,

One of my favorite patterns is cheetah print. Whether it is with a plain black dress or florals (I know, totally ground breaking for spring, but they do look great with cheetah print), the cheetah print always takes the outfit to the next level. I especially love it with these stripes because each pattern seems to accentuate the other. Totally counter-intuitive, but I'm rolling with it. Big news tomorrow so make sure to check back! Until then, XO

Art in Rome

Wednesday, April 12, 2017

2017, OOTD, travel, personal, art, Rome,

As I mentioned during my Rome recap, the main reason I wanted to visit Rome this time was to see an art exhibition. I have glossed over my passion for art in the past, but I think it's about time I really talked about it. In May, when I graduated from Wake, I graduated with a degree in art history after writing my thesis on two artists from the 16th and 17th century. I now work in an auction house with aspiration of working in the art world in the future- more to come about this on Friday! To say I love art would be an understatement to say the least.

Outside my favorite art museum, the Borghese Gallery
But what doest this have to do with an art exhibition in Rome? Because that is a long flight for one art exhibition! Well, this particular art exhibition was looking in depth at one of the artists I wrote my thesis on! Her name is Artemisia Gentileschi and she was an amazing artist. In my thesis, I was looking at four of her works in particular and I was able to see all four in this exhibition in Rome!

Seeing a work from my thesis by Caravaggio
While in Rome, I was able to see one of my other favorite artists, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, and a multitude of paintings that influenced my thesis. All in all, the whole trip was one of those moments where your school world and the real world collide and all of your studies and hard work make sense. Definitely more on Artemisia and art in general in the future! Until next time, XO

The Best of Winter

2017, winter, spring, OOTD, J.Crew, turtleneck, sparkly,

With winter finishing up and spring very much upon us, this will probably be my last opportunity to wear any winter clothes. So, it seemed only fitting to wear two of my favorite pieces from this winter.
2017, winter, spring, OOTD, J.Crew, turtleneck, sparkly,

First of all, turtlenecks, If I could pick one word to describe my winter wardrobe it would be turtlenecks. This burgundy with navy stripes one was perfect for me whether I was layering it under sweaters or just wearing wearing it by itself with a statement necklace. You can't go wrong with a turtleneck!
2017, winter, spring, OOTD, J.Crew, turtleneck, sparkly,

This sweater is also one of my favorites. I love the stripes of different colors and patterns. Then, the sparkles on top add just the right amount of pop. People always comment that the sparkles look like snowflakes and I absolutely love that idea.

Lots of new things coming up this week so stay tuned! Until then, XO

What I'm Up To

Monday, April 10, 2017

Hello all and happy Monday! As promised, I have some big things coming up on the blog this week so make sure to stay tuned all week! Today, we are starting a new series that I will be posting on Mondays about what I am up to entertainment wise. I will be covering what movies/ TV shows, books, and music I have been keeping up with lately.

So, let's jump right in! While in Rome, I had access to some different movies through Italian Netflix and I was finally able to watch The Great Gatsby with Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan. I know, I'm only four years behind, but it was awesome! I loved what they did with it and the costumes were absolutely incredible. It has had me dreaming of the 1920s ever since. I want to reread the book now too! What did y'all think of the movie?

Book-wise, as you know, my best friend Kate and I have a bookclub and we just started a new book! We both were excited about starting this book and neither of us have been able to put it down. The book is called Victoria and there is a new show on PBS based on this specific book. It starts right when Victoria is becoming queen and the author has done a great job so far of being engaging and also including a lot of historical information.

If you've seen any of our top tens here on Lefty Living Life, you will know that I love music and recently have been very excited about The Chainsmokers. Closer and Paris have been on repeat on my Spotify for a while. Last week, The Chainsmokers came out with their first album and I love it. I have been listening to it non-stop and would definitely recommend it. It is different from a lot of their previous collaborations, but still new and fun.

I would love suggestions for books, movies, music, and tv shows. So, if you have any ideas, make sure to comment or email me directly! Until next time, XO

Chambray and PomPoms

Thursday, April 6, 2017

2017, spring, chambray, pink, J.Crew, OOTD,
Hello all! It has been a tough and emotional past couple of weeks, hence the sporadic posting. But I am hoping to get back into my grove as of tonight and I have some big plans for posts next week. So, make sure to stay tuned and subscribe to the email list so you don't miss any updates!
2017, spring, chambray, pink, J.Crew, OOTD,
One of my favorite materials to wear during transitional months is chambray. It gives you that extra warmth you want and is great for layering, but the material itself isn't so thick. There is just something so classic about a chambray button-down.
2017, spring, chambray, pink, J.Crew, OOTD,
For me, the perfect chambray color is a little lighter so it creates a nice contrast with my darker jeans. I love denim in all forms, but I don't like when all of denim shades match. A little too "Texas tuxedo" for me!
2017, spring, chambray, pink, J.Crew, OOTD,
The great thing about chambray is that it is so easy to accessories. If you wear it with jeans, you basically have a blank slate that is just begging for some statement jewelry. I just picked up these earrings at J.Crew and I am in love.
2017, spring, chambray, pink, J.Crew, OOTD,
The color is the perfect pop for summer or with a black dress. They are made of a papery material so they are incredibly light and easy to wear all day, no matter what you are doing. Statement earrings are definitely my go-to accessory right now! Until next time, XO
