Emmys 2016

Monday, September 26, 2016

I love award shows because the red carpet is always so interesting and fun to look back on the next day. As you probably know, the Emmy's were a week ago and I was so excited about seeing all of the looks! However, I was not impressed for some reason. A lot of the dresses were not my style and I just didn't see as many things that spoke to me. However, I did find a couple that I liked, so here they are and hopefully the next red carpet has some more things that are up my alley!

Abigail Spencer, Emmys

I love the tulle and sparkles in Abigail Spencer's dress. I also like that it showed a little skin, but not too much.

Aimee Teegarden, Emmys 2016

I like that Aimee Teegarden's dress hit a lot of the trendy notes, while also maintaining a classic vibe.

Natasha Lyonne Emmys 2016

I love the cape like situation and bold black and white of Natasha Lyonne's dress! This was by far my favorite look of the evening.

Tatiana Maslany Emmys 2016

Tatiana Maslany did a similar thing to Aimee Teegarden of maintaining the classic look while also having the modern cut-outs and silhouette. This red looked incredible on her.

Hello all! In this week's newsletter, I shared some very exciting news that I want to tell y'all about too! Life has been a little crazy lately because in addition to graduating and starting a new job, I have also been working on a project that has been in the works for over a year. This project is finally coming to fruition and I am so excited to finally tell y'all about it.
Last year, I was having one of my regular closet reorganizes where I sort through everything and decide what to keep and what to donate. As I was going through, I realized that a lot of the pieces I was pulling out I had only worn one or two times and were still in great condition. I just wasn't wearing them very much. So for these items, I decided I was going to sell them online to make a little money going into senior year.
I started doing a little research about where would be the best place to sell them. However, looking at my online consignment options, I was so disappointed with the options out there. No website seemed to have the features I was looking for. Either they only sold specific brands or the website was sloppy and didn't make me want to buy anything. So instead of working with a website I wasn't happy with, I thought why not start my own online consignment store!
Since then I have been doing tons of research and working to make the best possible website for online consignment that combines online shopping with styling, fashion blogs, and also creates an awesome online shopping experience. And now, the website is really starting to come together and I will be launching it officially before you know it!
There will be lots of more details to come as y'all will be the first people to hear about the website and developments! I would love any and all feedback y'all have about online shopping, consignment, and any ideas you have for the website. XO

P.S. awesome pieces like this dress will be some of the first things available on the consignment website!

Fall Fix

Fall Fix: Green and Tweed

Fall Fix: Green and Tweed

Fall Fix: Green and Tweed

It is definitely not fall here, but I am already feeling the urge to wear fall colors and clothes. It probably doesn't help that I went and bought a new sweater and wool dress pants the other day...oops! But since it is still hot here, I settled for forest green and tweed to stave off my fall clothing desires. This color green is one of my favorite colors, but I always struggle to find it in stores and have trouble finding ways to wear it in an interesting way. This tweed turned out to be the perfect combination because it helped with my need for a fall fix and spiced up my green top...Mission Accomplished! XO

Simple, But Cute

simple and cute

simple and cute

What I have learned so far about working at the same place with the same people every day is that every outfit doesn't have to be a statement piece. A quiet, but still cute outfit can be just as great and is a nice foil to all of the statements. Especially when your statements are as loud as mine. I love this outfit because it is cute and simple but still very me. That is always the goal for me, does this outfit look like me? I also love this skirt and I'm so glad I've already found another great outfit to wear it with. I hope you had a great Thursday! XO

Woman Crush Wednesday: Olivia Palermo

Wednesday, September 7, 2016

I don't really believe in style icons or copying other people's style just because I think style is a reflection of you and your own personality. So I don't necessarily have style icons. However, I do have people who I admire because of their great style. Number 1 on my list? Olivia Palermo. I never watched The City which was how she became well known. I heard about her originally on one of the blogs I read probably four or five years ago. Since then, I have followed her style through her website and online. It also helps that she loves lace, fur, and lots of layers...just like me!
What I love about Olivia is she's not afraid to take risks and she knows what looks good on her body. I think a lot of people struggle with fashion because they prioritize trends over their own body shape .Even if its trendy, if it doesn't look good on you, it doesn't look good on you. I love that Olivia is able to maintain her own style while also wearing clothes that are flattering and trendy. Here are some of my favorite looks and make sure to check out Olivia's website. If you want more pictures, I have an entire pinterest board dedicated to her! XO

Feathers and Pink

feathers and pink

feathers and pink

I know I say this all of the time, but this might be one of my new favorite outfits. When I first bought this shirt, my mom gave me this look, which I have always interpreted as stop that, put that down. Of course I didn't put it down because I could never resist feathers and I am so glad I didn't. I thought this would be more of a statement piece that would need no additional accessories. However, the dark color makes the feathers and other details subtle until you are up close. Moral of the story, dark colors make statement pieces way easier to wear. I also love this look because it was an excuse to wear lots of pink and my monk straps which I am obsessed with! XO

Labor Day White

Labor Day White

Labor Day White

I've never been a big rule follower when it comes to fashion- I wear too many accessories and like mixing pieces and patterns too much! However, Labor Day seemed like the perfect day to rock a white dress. To be honest, I think the whole no white after Labor Day rule is a little antiquated. Especially with the emergence of the winter white trend that has become so popular the last couple of years. If cutting out white at the end of the summer is your thing, well you do you and more power to you! But for me, I'm going to keep rocking what little white I own. I hope y'all have had a wonderful Labor Day and an excellent long weekend. I would love to hear your thoughts on the no white after Labor Day rule so be sure to comment below! XO
