Sparkles for Memorial Day

Monday, May 30, 2016

Hello all and Happy Memorial Day! I hope y'all have enjoyed this long weekend and had some time to remember and reflect on all of the people who have sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. Although Memorial Day is typically a time for contemplation it also marks the beginning of summer, or at least summer clothing. For me, that doesn't really change anything as I continue to wear an excessive amount of sparkles, neutrals, and pink! Well, here is to the start of a great week and an incredible summer! XO

Summer Rain and Sparkles

Sunday, May 29, 2016

Hello all! I hope y'all are having a wonderful and sunny Sunday because we sure aren't here in North Carolina. It has been pouring down rain all morning. Now rain is my favorite weather, but in the summer with the humidity on top of the rain, it can be very difficult to find something to wear. But these sparkly rain boots that I have been obsessed with all winter might be the perfect solution. For summer rain, they are the perfect combination because they are waterproof but also short so they don't make your legs and feet overheat. And obviously a huge plus- they are sparkly!
For me going to work in the rain, a trench coat is also key because it keeps my outfit dry and pristine for when I get to work. This trench coat is also an exciting new addition to my wardrobe! I have been on the search for a classic trench for a while now and I stumbled across this one at a consignment store in D.C. I couldn't be more excited! Not only did I find my perfect trench coat, but I also love shopping consignment so it was a win win! I hope you are enjoying this Sunday and your Memorial Day weekend! XO

4 Years Old

Saturday, May 28, 2016

Hello wonderful readers! I can't believe I'm writing this, but today is Lefty Living Life's 4th birthday! It seems like just yesterday I was reading The Londoner and The Neo-Traditionalist and learning about blogs in general and now here I am writing my own blog. It is crazy how fast time flies. Of course, this blog started out as only a fun project, a way to spend my time between high school and graduation and potentially document my fours in college. However, it has become so much more. Lefty has been an incredible creative outlet that I didn't even know I needed, a way for me to explore my ideas about fashion and style and to develop my own style, and a way for me to grow as a person and document that growth. What I am trying to say is that Lefty Living Life is one of the most important aspects of my life and something I have come to value and cherish above almost all else and I love that I have been able to share it with you! So thank you for reading and supporting me on this journey and I can't wait to see what the next four years have in store. XO

Dress Pants, Tweed, and Sparkles

Sunday, May 22, 2016

The best thing about graduating college and having a full time job is I get to wear dress clothes everyday! I have always been one to overdress, so I have loved the opportunity to be able to wear heels and skirts this past week. In the past, I have preferred skirts to dress pants, but I just found this pair at J.Crew and they are absolutely perfect. They have just the right amount of fitting and the length works well with heels or flats (something I have always struggled with in the past). If you are in search of dress pants, I would definitely look at these and keep an eye out for more fun outfits this week! XO

P.S. Shoes are originally from here, but other cute options as well!

Wednesday, May 18, 2016

Hello all! I can't believe I'm saying this, but I graduated from college on Monday. It has definitely been a surreal experience and it does not seem possible that I am already done with college and in the real world! Now that I am not swamped with thesis work, exams, and other college related things, there are going to be some new, exciting things happening on the blog! So make sure to stay tuned and I'll see you soon! XO

Exploring D.C.

Homemade poptarts!
The awesome bookstore

Julia's Kitchen
Hello from D.C.! It has been a crazy fun adventure so far filled with museums, good food, and lots of walking. Some of my favorite things so far have been exploring Eastern Market, visiting the National Gallery of Art, and seeing Julia Child's kitchen. I had never been to Eastern Market before and outdoor markets are one of my favorite things so I had a ball. Plus we went to this incredible book store that was a total fire hazard but was such a quirky hole in the wall. The National Gallery was obviously amazing. There were so many incredible works and I fan girled over art the entire time. A dream day for me! Finally, today we went to the Museum of American History where they have Julia Child's kitchen. Julia was obviously an awesome cook, but she also personalized her kitchen. She was very tall so she had everything raised to make things easier for her, which I thing is one of the coolest things. I have always loved Julia and my mom and her are the main reasons I wanted to be a chef for so long. I also love that she personalized her kitchen. The kitchen is one of the main places that I notice my left-handedness and I would love to personalize my kitchen so it is left-handed. Maybe one day! XO

Met Gala 2016...Manus x Machina

Friday, May 6, 2016

The Met Gala always has incredible red carpets and this year was no exception. The theme, Manus x Machina, looks at the relationship between handmade and mechanized fashion and attendees all had creative outfits to fit with the theme. Here are a couple of my favorites!

Blake Lively is always someone I look out for on red carpets and the Met Gala was no exception. With her newly reveled baby bump covered in Burberry, her look was classic and flawless.

Claire Danes looked like Cinderella and then revealed that her dress also glowed. I was speechless! Such an incredible dress that fit perfectly with the theme.

I think Emma Watson is one of the best dressed people out there and her dress was not only stunning but also made entirely of recycled or sustainable materials!

I loved Gigi and Zayn's futuristic/ robotic look.

Today I arrived in Washington D.C. with two of my best friends for a pre- graduation girls week! Get ready for lots of pictures and updates on all of our adventures! XO
