Hello and happy Friday! I am finally back in North Carolina, and it feels great to be home. I loved Atlanta, but I am definitely ready for a little break before school starts again. I just bought this top at Anthropologie and I am very excited about it! Its a little different than my normal style, but it is super comfy and surprisingly easy to pair with things. It will definitely be a stable in my wardrobe for the near future! Until next time XO

Hello everyone! I hope y'all have had an excellent week so far :) I always find mixing patterns difficult, but I think 90% of the problem is all in my head. I think mixing things together is going to be hard, so it is. However, mixing patterns can be so easy! I think the easiest way to rock this trend without looking crazy is keeping your color palette all within the same family. If you are going to wear something with pink polka dots, keep your color palette in the pink family and maybe add one more color, but don't do too much. I love mixing neutral patterns because it feels like you have more freedom. The great think about neutrals is that they normally look good together so you don't have to worry as much about clashing. Instead, you can worry about having fun and rocking those patterns! XO

Hello! I hope y'all are having a wonderful weekend. Mine has been quiet as I have been busy packing and cleaning my apartment before I go home this Saturday! I am definitely sad to be leaving Atlanta because I have had such an incredible time here, but I am also very excited to be going home!
Anyways, as some of you who have been reading Lefty Living Life for a while, probably know that I have not always had a lot of hair and until recently, my hair was actually very short. Now that I have hair, I have been trying to experiment with new hairdos. I must say, the top knot is by far my favorite. I always feel so fancy and sophisticated whenever I wear one! By this point, all of my family and friends are probably tired of seeing my hair piled on top of my head because I do it so often, but I am still obsessed. Any hair recommendations or advice? I could use all of the help I can get! XO

|I was really excited about my fries :)|
Food trucks have not really caught on at home yet, but here in Atlanta, they are extremely popular. At work, we have different food trucks every Friday and I have tried everything from gyros and crab cake sandwiches to a couple different types of mac and cheese because there is a food truck devoted solely to mac and cheese! This weekend, a bunch of food trucks lined up in Piedmont Park for a food truck festival. It was nothing short of amazing! The time my friend Laura and I went to a street festival, we went to this incredible food truck, The Fry Guy, that specializes in gourmet Belgian street fries. So we were on a mission to find it again yesterday. Of course we did, and it was delicious. I had Parmesan truffle fries and they were out of this world- a must try if you are ever in Atlanta. We ended our excursion with King of Pop peach Popsicles. All in all, a fun and food filled day! XO

Living in the south, summer is very hot and the air conditioning is normally on so high you can almost see your breath. It's a hard situation because being outside in the humidity in dress pants or a jacket is miserable, but sitting in the office all day freezing is just as bad. However, maxi dresses are the perfect solution! It is not as cool as a sun dress, but definitely better than pants and perfect for inside. This summer, I have ended up wearing maxi dresses as often as my skirts! I really love this striped maxi because it is slightly fitted around the waist which gives it more shape than a regular maxi. It is extremely comfortable, but as the same time flattering and perfect for the office. This is my first maxi that is fitted in any way and I would definitely recommend it! Do you have any summer staples you can't live without? I would love to hear about them in the comments below! XO

Wearing bright colors has always been difficult for me because I'm always tempted to over-accessorize. I have to constantly remind myself that more is not always better and sometimes, I just need to tone it down. As you can imagine, this is not always easy for, so I have come up with a new plan when wearing bright things! I'm not going to necessarily wear less because that has proved unsuccessful. Instead I'm going to try and wear mostly neutrals and let the bright colors speak for themselves.
Now enters my brand new earrings that are fabulous and huge, but mostly hidden by my hair. They are also conveniently black and white, which is very neutral...see where I'm going here? These earrings are perfect to wear with a bright shirt, because they are almost too big to pair with a necklace. Without that option, I can force myself to tone it down. Sometimes I need to follow Coco Chanel's advice and remember that "less is more."
However, if you are looking to wear colors with your neon colored clothing, I really like pairing warm pastels like this peach clutch. They compliment the neon nicely and help to lessen the highlighter impact. XO
