Fall Sneaker Style

Sunday, August 24, 2014

Good morning! I am once again back at school and it seems like I haven't been here in years! But I am so excited for this semester and hopefully some awesome outfits! I just got these fabulous sneakers from J.Crew and I am in love. They are so comfortable and cute and I feel like I can wear them in any situation! I am definitely picking up my sneaker game for fall! I am so ready for it to cool down so I can start layering again. As you can tell, I have already kind of started, but after taking these pictures, I ran back into the air conditioning. Definitely not a good idea long term :)

Glasses: I just got these frames from The View on Elm a week ago and I haven't put them down! Loving the shape and blue, Necklace: Although my Anthro jewelry sometimes breaks, I can't seem to stop buying it because it is just so perfect! I grabbed this necklace on a whim the last time I was in and I am so glad I did. It is a great bold, but neutral statement piece, Top: I love how bright this top is! Sweater: I love the neon stripe on this cardigan, Jeans: My favorite pair of jeans from JBrand, Sneakers: I am so excited about wearing these this fall, Ring: This was a graduation gift, but here is a similar one, Watch: I love this unconventional shape, Bracelets: Lily and Laura, BaubleBar, Anthropologie

It feels like summer has just begun and it is already ending. We are moving my sister into college tomorrow and Tuesday and then I move in on Saturday! Where has the time gone? These next two weeks might be a little sporadic with posts, but I will be back regularly as soon as possible. Enjoy this last little bit of summer before school and fall creep up on us! XO

Burgundy and Gold

I've been trying to decide whether to buy a monogram necklace or not. I wanted something personal, but  I couldn't find a monogram that I really liked. So instead,  I found this state necklace from Baublebar. You choose the color and have a heart carved out where your hometown is. I love this idea because it is unique and very personal, but more personal for the wearer than the observer. Also, a great conversation starter! XO

One Outfit Two Ways

Sunday, August 10, 2014

I sometimes get stuck in a rut where I will always wear the same necklace/shirt combo or necklace/ shoe combo etc. Instead of worrying about adding something new to an already cool combination, I try and mix up the other aspects of the outfit so it feels like a completely new combination. It doesn't always work, but I am loving this chambray/ necklace combo right now! I wore this outfit from work and then dressed it down for dinner, but it would be just as easy to wear it with jeans during the day and then dress if up for the evening. XO
Outfit 1- Glasses: The View on Elm, Umbrella: Target- this umbrella is perfect because it provides great protection and is big enough to cover your bag, Shirt: J.Crew- Chambray is a vital part of my wardrobe especially in the fall, Necklace: J.Crew- I just picked up this beauty at a J.Crew jewelry sale and I've already worn it three times this week! Skirt: J.Crew- such a cute twist on a classic jean skirt, Shoes: Jack Rogers- my only pair of Jack Rogers, but I love how comfortable they are, Bracelets: The View on Elm, David Yurman, Michael Kors, Baublebar
Outfit 2- Purse: Kate Spade- I am obsessed with this clutch! Jeans: JBrand Jeans- These are worth every penny, an amazing investment, Shoes: Main and Taylor- my go to boutique for shoes

Pink is my new black

Friday, August 8, 2014

Until a year and a half ago, I never wore pink. Actually I avoided it like the plague. However, after joining a sorority whose colors are pink and white, I decided I might need to add a little pink into my wardrobe. Now, a day doesn't go by where I don't have at least some pink in my outfit. I have joined the band wagon and now adore pink. Somehow, without even noticing, pink became my new black. XO

Brownies and lots of pink

Saturday, August 2, 2014

The absentee blogger is back! This week has been busy, but I have also not felt very inspired fashion or otherwise. However, after indulging in a J.Crew shopping adventure yesterday, my mojo is officially back! I am feeling inspired and have some great outfits planned for this week :) To make it up to all of you, I have an excellent caramel brownie recipe and an outfit from this week! These brownies are delicious and very easy so try them and let me know what you think. Also, check out J.Crew because they are having a great sale. The jewelry was 25% off plus, if you are a student, you get an additional 15% your entire purchase. Definitely a discount I frequently take advantage of. That's all for now! XO

Knock You Naked Brownies From The Pioneer Woman
1 German Chocolate Cake Mix
1 cup pecans, chopped
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1/2  evaporated milk
1/2 cup butter, melted
60 caramels unwrapped
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1. Preheat oven to 350ยบ. Grease a 9x9 inch square baking pan
2. In a large bowl, mix together cake mix, chopped pecans, 1/3 cup evaporated milk, and melted butter. Stir together until totally combined. The mixture will be very thick
3. Press half of mixture into the bottom of the baking pan. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Remove from the oven
4. While it is baking, add 1/2  cup evaporated milk and caramels to a microwave safe bowl and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring every 60 seconds until it is melted and smooth. Poor over the cooked brownie base. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. The recipe only called for 1/3 of a cup of chocolate chips, but I like chocolate so I added a lot more. I thought it made them a lot better :)
5. Press remaining brownie mix into a square and place on top of the caramel and chocolate layer
6. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Let cool to room temperature and refrigerate until solid enough to cut!
